Energy

Client

A leading renewable energy developer with operations in the U.S., Quebec and Europe.

Challenge

Building support from the Ontario government to allow nine stalled renewable energy projects to migrate to a new government program that would provide increased revenue that would allow the projects to be constructed.

Solution

Campbell Strategies developed a comprehensive strategy to build a "third option" in the Ontario Feed-in-Tariff program (FIT) that recognized the unique situation of developers that were developing projects but were impacted by the global downturn and cost of credit.

Results

The province created a program under the FIT rules called "Advanced RESOP" that allowed qualifying projects to migrate, provided they met in-service guarantees. The projects represent an investment of approximately $250 million in Ontario's electricity sector.
